A very rare Derby figure of Ceres,representing Earth.
Circa:1755-58
This large Derby Figure of Ceres, the earth goddess of agriculture wearing a turret crown, her long flowing gown is decorated with enamelled floral sprays in the manner of James Gilles and held by a turquoise coloured sash, She stands beside a lion at her feet and proffers sheaths of corn and holds a sickle in her right hand, in her left hand she holds a cornucopia overflowing with produce of fruits and corn to the rear of the base are grape vines and flowers.






Size: Height 23.5 cm .












Condition: Restoration to; Arm, neck, corn in hand ,some leaves and vines.
